About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced SMSF Accountant to join the team at Smith McCarthy Wilson, a leading accounting and advisory firm located in Warragul, VIC.
Our ideal candidate can be accepted to either a Part-Time or Full-Time position, and we are also flexible in regards to when the candidate will begin (any time from immediate to early in the New Year).
As our in-house Specialist SMSF Accountant, you will play a crucial role in providing strategic financial and compliance services to our growing portfolio of over 200 self‑managed superannuation fund (SMSF) clients.
What you'll be doing
- Preparing and lodging SMSF annual tax returns and financial statements
- Assisting with SMSF compliance, investment strategies and estate planning
- Assisting clients with SMSF establishment, wind‑ups, and rollovers
- Liaising with SMSF Auditors throughout the SMSF Audit process
What we're looking for
- Experience in SMSF accounting
- Comprehensive knowledge of SMSF legislation, regulations and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with systems such as BGL Simple Fund 360 (preferred), Class Super or other similar platforms
- Excellent communication and client service skills to build trusted relationships
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive financial information.
- Australian work authorisation is required for this position
