Job Description Summary Responsible for activities related to the construction, building and commissioning on customer site, from site mobilization, through civil, erection and commissioning work, as well as management activities related to this scope. Impacts approaches, projects and programs in the functional area or affected business organization and ways of working. Impacts quality, efficiency and effectiveness of own team.
Has significant input into priorities. Guided by professional practices and policies that are shaped by the role. The role has moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment.
Roles and Responsibilities The Site Manager is responsible for ENTIRE scope of site activities during ITO and/or OTR phase, acting under the direction and on behalf of the overall project leader. Leads site team and manages execution of the project scope of work. Could also be managing multiple sites for the project.
Ensures schedule, quality and cost are in compliance with contractual obligations, company policy and local regulations. Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource.
Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility. Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market.
Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations.
Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.
Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field. This job is 90% travel across the United States.
Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in site management, construction, commissioning, or project execution within utility, electrical substation, or related industrial environments Equivalent experience may come from hands‑on field leadership backgrounds such as site management, electrical construction, substation operations, or similar technical trades leadership High school diploma / GED with substantial relevant experience, or a bachelor’s degree Relevant field credentials such as Journeyman status, Master Electrician license, OSHA 30, or similar site‑based certifications are highly valued Desired Characteristics Strong oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Demonstrated ability to lead site teams and coordinate contractors in fast‑paced field environments Experience supporting or overseeing electrical substation upgrades, expansions, or new‑build projects Strong understanding of safety, lockout/tagout, and EHS expectations on customer sites Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems Established project or site management skills PMP certification is a plus Relocation Assistance Provided No Work Location Remote Benefits Available benefits include medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage; access to Health Coach from GE Vernova, a 24/7 nurse‑based resource; and access to the Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services.
