Job Description We are recruiting an experienced Shift Manager to strengthen our depot operations management team. In this role you will work closely with self‑employed Owner Drivers and employed drivers, building strong relationships and keeping drivers engaged, well‑managed, and motivated to deliver outstanding service. Other key accountabilities will be: Ensure depot target for Core Routes is achieved.

Ensure depot target Stops Per Route (SPR) is achieved. Ensure all other delivery & collection routes are properly set. Ensure all drivers scan and load their vans for delivery in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.

Maintain communication with drivers to resolve any issues. Ensure adequate resources are available to guarantee ad‑hoc collections via drivers or couriers/agencies. Ensure all relevant documentation and systems are completed accurately and in line with company and/or legislative requirements.

Work to set key performance indicators including Service, Cost, Productivity, Transport and Health and Safety. Ensure “Depot Clear” is achieved in line with depot targets. Qualifications What we’re looking for: You will have experience in a fast‑paced operation with demonstrable people‑management experience, involving direct accountability and responsibility for motivating and leading a high‑performing team, ideally within a transport setting.

We also expect you to: Have strong communication skills with the ability to inspire, motivate and manage a team. Be decisive and effective in decision‑making, problem resolution and time‑management. Demonstrate high levels of resilience, self‑motivation and flexibility.

Have excellent computer skills, especially using Google Chrome applications. Be able to do comprehensive reporting alongside analysis of data. Be vigilant to any unscrupulous activity and take swift, appropriate action.
