Cindy's Rooftop and James Beard award winning Boka Restaurant Group — the team behind some of Chicago’s most acclaimed restaurants — is currently seeking an experienced Service Manager.
As the Service Manager, you will report directly to the General Manager. You will be responsible for managing the floor, opening and closing the restaurant, and supervising employees.

Schedule: Five days a week onsite; the schedule will vary based on business needs including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Service duties:
- Complete opening tasks, as assigned by position and manager shift schedule, including a complete walk through to ensure the restaurant is set for service and staffing is optimal
- Assist and/or lead pre-shift meeting, as required
- During service, assist with floor management and follow restaurant-specific service procedures – this includes but is not limited to touching tables, running food & communicating with the kitchen, overseeing team & keeping team members on task, ensuring restaurant & restroom cleanliness, answering phones & assisting reservationist, seating guests, monitoring the door, and troubleshooting basic guest service issues
- Deliver superior guest experience and strive to make every guest leave happy, promoting positive reviews
- Manage team members during daily shift, including directing team members during the shift and troubleshooting employee issues, with escalation of all major issues to senior management
- Monitor restaurant email and respond to guests, with serious issues escalated to senior management
- Complete closing/end of shift tasks, as assigned by position and manager shift
Management responsibilities:
- Manage staff education programming, including preparing training materials and communicating trainings with team members, as assigned by senior management, and assisting day-of training sessions
- Assist with hourly employee hiring process, including reviewing applications, interviewing candidates, and referring strong candidates to senior management for final interview & hiring decision
- Assist with personnel file management by following HR procedures
- Participate in employee development, including performance reviews, supporting employees, responding to employee concerns & questions, and escalating all employee issues or concerns for further action as determined appropriate by senior management
- Participate in weekly management meetings
- Write staffing schedule for review according to guidance and assignment by GM
- Be a leader in developing and cultivating a professional and growth-focused positive work environment
- Support team with special projects, tasks, and duties, as required for restaurant operations and assigned by senior management
- Follow BRG uniform guidelines and ensure staff is also following uniform guidelines
Financial performance & acumen:
- Maintain restaurant supplies for categories assigned by GM, including tracking inventory, managing to budget, and placing orders
- Manage monthly beverage inventory, including keeping storage and back bars organized, ensuring recipe adherence, and cost/pricing accuracy in the inventory and POS systems
- Have a working understanding of invoice coding and submission
- Assist with daily labor audits, entry of tips into the timekeeping/payroll system, and troubleshooting issues
- Follow day-to-day financial systems set by senior management and regularly track performance to goals for Sales, COGS, Labor, and Comps
- Participate in management training as scheduled and assigned by senior management
Physical requirements:
- Lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Safely and effectively use all necessary tools and equipment
- Stand and walk for an entire shift, including moving safely through all areas of the restaurant, which may include stairs, uneven, and slick surfaces
