Senior Web Developer
beMarketing
Job Description
Role Description
Senior Web Developer at beMarketing is a full-time, hybrid position based in Plymouth Meeting, PA, with flexibility for partial remote work. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role for someone who builds fast, thinks architecturally, and stays ahead of how the web is evolving, including where AI fits into the workflow.
You’ll own web development end‑to‑end across a portfolio of active clients: planning, building, launching, and optimizing. That means front‑end UI, back‑end integrations, performance, accessibility, and everything in between. You’ll work closely with designers, digital marketers, and account managers to turn business requirements into working solutions, and you’ll help set the technical direction for how the team builds.
You’ll also mentor junior developers, enforce code quality standards, and be the person who raises the bar on how we deliver web work agency‑wide.
Qualifications
- Strong front‑end development skills including modern HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive, mobile‑first design practices.
- Hands‑on experience with Astro, including component‑based architecture, static site generation, content collections, and deploying Astro projects to production environments.
- Proficiency in WordPress, including custom theme development, plugin integration, and performance optimization within WordPress ecosystems.
- Back‑end development capability including server‑side logic, REST APIs, database management, and security best practices.
- Active use of AI tools in daily development work, whether for code generation, debugging, documentation, accessibility review, or workflow acceleration. We don’t want someone who’s curious about AI; we want someone already building with it.
- Experience with version control (Git), deployment workflows, staging environments, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to evaluate the right tool for the job: knowing when to use Astro vs. WordPress vs. a headless approach, and being able to defend that recommendation to a non‑technical stakeholder.
- Strong performance optimization skills including Core Web Vitals, image handling, lazy loading, caching strategies, and site speed best practices.
- Comfortable managing multiple active projects with competing deadlines without dropping quality.
- Clear communicator who can explain technical decisions in plain language to account managers, clients, and leadership.
- Several years of professional web development experience; agency or digital marketing environment experience is strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience that proves you can do the work.
