Job Description
Join Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP as a Senior Traffic Engineer in our Traffic Engineering Group based in King of Prussia, PA. This role focuses on designing, analyzing, and managing traffic engineering projects across the mid‑Atlantic region and nationally. Responsibilities Design and manage projects involving traffic signals, signing, markings, roadway/parking lot lighting, work zone traffic control, and ITS devices.
Conduct traffic safety/operations studies. Develop and apply Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, and VISUM models. Perform quality‑control reviews.
Contribute to marketing and business development. Mentor and develop staff. Handle assignments ranging from intersection improvements to complex interchange and corridor projects, multimodal transportation plans, and parking studies.
Work at client sites as required. Requirements Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET‑accredited program required. Minimum of 16 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering.
Basic understanding of traffic modeling (macro, meso and micro). Experience with VISSIM, VISUM, HCS, Synchro/SimTraffic, CORSIM, and Quickzone. Experience in the design of traffic control devices including signals, signing, maintenance of traffic, pavement markings, ITS devices, and lighting.
Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, Highway Capacity Manual, and Highway Safety Manual. Licensed as a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain through comity from another state. PTOE certification preferred.
Experience working on PennDOT projects required. Experience working with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
