Senior Staff Engineer

OVERALL SUMMARY

As part of the Video platforms and Development team, Senior Staff AI Engineers are responsible for the design and maintenance of AI Engineering initiatives. This includes internal workflows, new technology initiatives, and consumer-facing systems. The successful candidate will work closely with clients (users) to complete the analysis and design of systems and follow the implementation to completion.

Senior Staff AI Engineers are expected to lead other AI Engineers and develop standards and best practices across the AI Engineering landscape.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides, guides, and uses professional concepts in developing resolutions to critical issues.
• Trains and fine-tunes models using LoRA and other parameter-efficient techniques
• Design, train, and evaluate multimodal models from scratch
• Apply reinforcement learning techniques to model development and optimization
• Experience with audio/speech ML tasks such as speaker diarization and speaker identification
• Deploy, debug, and maintain distributed systems in cloud environments
• Optimize inference pipelines using tools and techniques such as TensorRT, quantization, and pruning
• Monitor and maintain models in production, including handling data drift and system failures
• Perform data gathering, cleaning, and curation to build high-quality training and evaluation datasets
• Comfortable working with a gated, continuous deployment workflow that requires unit, component, and integration tests
• Applies extensive knowledge of theories, practices, and design matters.
• Works on issues that impact program success or addresses future concepts and products. Implementation of solutions requires a longer-term view which impacts strategic goals and objectives spanning several functions.
• Exercises a wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches to critical assignments.
• Knowledge of media management strategies and distribution workflows
• Work closely with Product and Operations to design and optimize workflows
• Apply broad expertise and knowledge in highly specialized fields or several related disciplines
• Contribute to development of company objectives and principles to achieve goals
• Work on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

• Expert experience, understanding, and knowledge of digital and broadcast production operations and workflows
• 5+ years working with the AWS cloud
• 1+ years working with the Azure cloud
• Strong knowledge of industry trends and best practices
• Strong experience with the C4 model and other traditional design artifacts
• Experience working in an Agile environment

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS

• 7+ years of experience with programming languages such as Java, Golang, Python, JavaScript
• Knowledge of broadcast production or video content management systems
• Familiarity with client-side web technologies (React, Angular, JavaScript, CSS, HTML)
• Familiarity with continuous integration/deployment practices
• Docker and Kubernetes experience a plus
• BS in CS, EE, or equivalent experience required
