Senior Software Developer - Full Stack, GFT - Halifax

Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT collaborates with partners across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions for clients in Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. The Financial Crimes – AML IT team is leading multiple complex regulatory initiatives.

This role will strategically plan, coordinate, develop, lead, communicate and execute activities to ensure objectives are achieved on time. Responsibilities Manage the implementation of multiple concurrent technology initiatives of varying complexity in a time‑efficient manner and monitor activity according to plan. Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts and risks; analyse, mitigate and, when appropriate, escalates them.

Develop and execute end‑to‑end delivery of technology projects and plan and execute all related communications. Collaborate and contribute to cross‑functional enterprise initiatives; manage the effective implementation of assigned deliverables. Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to influence key business partners and integrate initiatives into RBC procedures and processes.

Hands‑on development of technical modules and guide junior developers when required. Must have Qualifications Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of experience in full‑stack development. Proficiency in React and backend technologies (Node.js/Java).

Experience with Java streaming technologies (e.g., Kafka Streams, Java Streams API) and Spring Boot framework. Proven experience in writing Technical Design documents and developing scalable applications. Strong experience with Kubernetes for container orchestration.

Experience in backend SQL (MySQL, DB2 or Oracle), DevOps (Jenkins, UCD, etc.) and Cloud (Azure, AWS, etc.). Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications Experience with Snowflake. Ability to facilitate between and influence key decision makers; strategic thinker.
