We're Hiring: Senior Snowflake Engineer Location: Downtown Toronto Employment Type: Full-Time / Contract Experience Required: 10+ Years We are building a modern data platform centered on Snowflake and are seeking an experienced Senior Snowflake Enginee r to design, build, and operationalize Snowflake-native solutions. This role combines advanced Snowflake development, data architecture, and platform engineering to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing data products that power analytics and business outcomes across the organization . Key Responsibiliti esLead the design and implementation of Snowflake-based data architectures, including data vault, star and house models, materialized views, and zero-copy cloning strategie s.Build and maintain production ETL/ELT pipelines using Snowpipe, Snowpark, Streams & Tasks, and partner tools such as dbt, StreamSets, Fivetran, Matillion, and Airbyt e.Develop Snowflake-native applications, utilities, UDFs, external functions, and developer tools using Snowpark for Pytho n.Optimize Snowflake performance and cost through query tuning, clustering strategies, warehouse sizing, workload isolation, and resource monitorin g.Implement enterprise-grade data governance, security, and access controls, including RBAC, masking policies, tagging, lineage, and auditin g.Automate infrastructure and deployments using Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing framework s.Build monitoring, alerting, cost reporting, and operational tooling to ensure platform reliability and observabilit y.Mentor engineering teams, conduct design reviews, and contribute to the strategic evolution of the Snowflake platfor m.
Required Skills & Experie nce10+ years of experience in data engineering and data platform developme nt.Strong hands-on experience designing, implementing, and operating Snowflake in production environmen ts.Deep expertise with Snowflake features including Snowpark, Streams & Tasks, Snowpipe, Time Travel, Cloning, Materialized Views, External Functions, and UD Fs.Extensive ETL/ELT development experience using dbt, SQL, and ingestion tools such as StreamSets, Fivetran, Matillion, Airbyte, or Kafka Connecto rs.Advanced proficiency in Python and SQL, including query tuning and performance optimizati on.Experience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar technologi es.Strong knowledge of AWS, Azure, or GCP and their integration with Snowfla ke.Solid understanding of Medallion Architecture, data modeling patterns, secure data sharing, and data governance framewor ks.Experience implementing CI/CD, automated testing, and production operational practices for data workloa ds. Preferred Qualificat ionsSnowflake SnowPro Core or Advanced Certificati ons.Hands-on experience with dbt Core or dbt Cl oud.Experience with data catalogs, data lineage, or data virtualization platfo rms.Familiarity with BI and analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Loo ker.Experience building internal developer tools, data applications, or Snowpark-powered soluti ons.
