Compensation Range This role offers a location-based annual salary of £70,000–£80,000 for candidates based in London and £65,000–£75,000 for candidates based outside of London. The salary range reflects the base pay for this role at Altus Group and is provided where required by local regulations. Actual offers may differ based on experience, market conditions, and other relevant factors.

The range does not include additional compensation such as bonuses, equity, benefits, or other incentives. Who we need Reporting to the Senior Manager, Information Security, we are hiring a Senior Security Specialist to join our Security Engineering team. This fully remote role is open to candidates based in the UK, Germany, France, or Luxembourg and will work as part of a geographically distributed security engineering team spanning the UK and Canada.

Responsibilities Advance the company’s security engineering roadmap, improving detection and response capabilities and evolving security technologies across cloud, infrastructure, and platforms. Lead offensive security initiatives, including threat hunting activities, maturation of the purple team program, adversary emulation, and support for complex incident investigations. Mentor and guide Security Operations analysts, enhancing detection, response, and overall security posture.

Drive innovation and continuous improvement, shaping the future of security at Altus Group through contributions to the AI security roadmap, evaluation of emerging technologies, and introduction of new ideas. Identify opportunities to improve detection, automate processes, mature security technologies, and strengthen the overall security posture across a wide spectrum of modern cybersecurity disciplines. Work cross‑functionally with Security Operations, Engineering, and leadership teams to influence the security roadmap and foster a high‑trust, high‑performance culture.

Qualifications Proven experience across security engineering and security operations, solving complex technical challenges and strengthening security capabilities. Deep understanding of enterprise infrastructure fundamentals—including networking, operating systems, DNS, firewalls, and cloud environments. Hands‑on experience securing cloud environments (Azure, Entra ID, AWS, SaaS platforms) and implementing continuously improved security controls.

Experience with threat hunting, incident response, adversary emulation, detection engineering, and cyber threat intelligence, including proficiency with MITRE ATT&CK frameworks. Ownership mindset: ability to define priorities, solve problems independently, and take initiative in a high‑autonomy environment. Strong communication skills, able to articulate technical concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders, mentor others, and collaborate across functions.
