Senior Registered Nurse - Pre Assessment

Sulis Hospital has an opportunity for a Senior Registered Nurse to join our Pre-Assessment Team.

About the role
As a Senior Registered Nurse in pre-assessment, you will:

• Provide the highest possible standard of nursing care for the patients and their families
• Ensure that an on-going welcoming, caring, and safe environment is provided for the patients
• Manage the pre-operative patient pathway to ensure a safe progress through theatre and recovery.
• Ensure legibility and accuracy of nursing records
• Take an accurate patient history to identify red flags and take appropriate action.
• Hand over and transfer responsibility of care to colleagues, ensuring appropriate information and care is relayed
• Take an accurate medication history and follow guidelines for pre-operative medicines management
• Ensure that nursing procedures are implemented and maintained in accordance with best practice, policy, professional and regulatory requirements
• Show leadership qualities within the team, with professional role modelling and support of junior and support staff.
• Attend meetings and represent department in special interest areas within the hospital.

About you
To be considered for the role of Registered Nurse, you’ll need to demonstrate:

• NMC registration
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to learn quickly and good mental stamina
• An awareness of research and ability to apply evidence-based practice in the clinical setting
• Evidence of continuous professional development & professional revalidation
• IT literate
• Excellent communication skills, written & verbal, with the ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels
• Phlebotomy skills (this can be taught in role)
• Up to date clinical skills

We would be very happy to fully train you in this role if you have not worked as a pre-assessment nurse before.

Full-time hours available various shifts

This role requires DBS clearance
