JOB PURPOSE This role exists to drive CAPEX initiates at the Rexdale plant. We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Senior Project Engineer to join our team. The Senior Project Engineer will be managing the technical aspects of CAPEX projects, including planning, execution, and delivery, while ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
This role requires expertise in engineering practices, technical drawing interpretation, and knowledge of control systems and processes. You’ll be part of a team that believes in doing work that matters — for people and the planet. Because here, we don’t just hire for jobs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead and coordinate engineering activities across multiple projects, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards Provide technical guidance in planning, designing, developing, and validating processes for new products or project deliverables Review construction plans, specifications, and contract documents; assist with constructability reviews and proposed methods Develop project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and operational plans; monitor progress and performance against project plans Select materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors; supervise engineers, drafters, and technicians as needed Facilitate BIM and/or FEED processes, generate project punchlists, and manage closeout documentation including Operation & Maintenance manuals Ensure compliance with industry policies, safety regulations, and quality standards Mentor and provide leadership to junior engineers, fostering team collaboration and promoting core Unilever values Define project scope, objectives, and technical requirements Develop detailed schedules, budgets, and resource allocation plans Collaborate with stakeholders, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure alignment Read, interpret, and develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) and engineering drawings Ensure proper integration of systems and components in alignment with engineering principles Apply knowledge of basic control systems, such as PLCs, SCADA, and HMI interfaces, to support project needs Work with mechanical, electrical, and process engineering teams to resolve technical issues Oversee project implementation, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations Monitor on-site progress and ensure technical deliverables are met on time Troubleshoot technical issues and implement corrective actions promptly Prepare and review technical documentation, including schematics, layouts, and reports Maintain accurate project records, including revisions to technical drawings and equipment specifications Provide regular updates on project progress, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders and management Ensure all engineering designs and implementations adhere to industry standards and regulatory requirements Promote and enforce workplace safety and environmental standards during project execution REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field) Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or in a related technical role leading CAPEX projects end-to-end Experience with P&ID: Demonstrated experience with P&ID development and interpretation Instrumentation: Hands‑on experience with basic control systems and instrumentation Technical Proficiencies: Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent Process Knowledge: Strong understanding of process flow diagrams (PFDs), equipment layouts, and technical schematics Automation: Basic knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation systems Piping & Materials: Familiarity with material specifications, mechanical systems, and piping design Soft Skills: Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills; excellent communication and leadership abilities; ability to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience leading CAPEX projects end-to-end in FMCG, CPG, or Foods & Beverage manufacturing strongly preferred PAYMENT Pay range: $84,900 - $127,300. Bonus eligible.
