Senior Product Designer

Job Description
Senior Product Designer (UI/UX)
At-a-Glance
- Senior design role owning the end-to-end product experience for a complex, data-heavy AI platform
- Figma-led, spanning interaction design, UI craft and design system ownership
- Belfast based with hybrid working
- Small product team with genuine autonomy and direct access to engineering and product leadership
- Share options included alongside base salary
About the Company
My client is a fast-growing software company building an AI platform that helps large organisations make sense of vast volumes of information and act on it with confidence. They work in a highly regulated environment where accuracy and trust matter more than shipping quickly, which makes for genuinely interesting design problems.
The Role
This is the senior design voice in a small, capable product team, and the person who sets the standard for what good looks like across the platform. You will work alongside product managers, engineers and the founding team to shape how deeply technical capability becomes something people can actually use... turning dense information and complex workflows into interfaces that feel obvious. There is no established design function to inherit, so you will be building the system, the standards and the practice as you go. It suits someone who is equally comfortable defining product direction and sweating the detail of a single interaction, and who prefers ambiguity to a backlog of tickets.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end product experience, from early problem framing through to shipped interface
- Design interfaces that make complex, data-dense workflows feel simple and trustworthy
- Build and evolve the design system, including component library, patterns and UI standards
- Partner with product managers and engineers to define what gets built and why
- Run user research and usability testing to ground design decisions in evidence
- Translate ambiguous, technically complex problems into clear product direction
- Set and hold the quality bar for implementation, working closely with engineers through delivery
- Identify where AI can improve both the product and the design practice itself
- Mentor others as the design function grows
What You'll Need
Essential:
- 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio covering both UX thinking and strong visual and interaction craft
- Proven experience designing complex B2B, enterprise or data-heavy products
- Strong Figma skills, with experience building and maintaining design systems
- Ability to articulate design rationale clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Comfort with ambiguity and the appetite to build a design practice from a low base
- Right to work in the UK
Desirable / Nice to Have:
- Experience designing for dashboards, analytics or information-dense decision-making tools
- Front-end familiarity, enough to collaborate credibly on implementation
- Experience using AI-assisted tooling within a design workflow
Why Apply?
- Competitive salary, benchmarked to attract genuinely senior design talent
- Share options, so you share in the growth you help build
- Hybrid working from Belfast, with flexibility on days
- Private medical cover, pension and salary sacrifice schemes
- Generous annual leave allowance
- The chance to define the design function rather than inherit someone else's
- Work with a mission that matters, on problems that have not been designed for before
- Direct access to decision makers, with no layers between you and the people setting direction
