Position Description The Senior PowerBuilder Developer / Lead will be responsible for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing PowerBuilder applications while also providing leadership to the support team. This is a hands‑on role that combines development and support work with team leadership responsibilities. The individual must be proactive, able to work independently as well as collaboratively, and capable of leading incident resolution and enhancement efforts.
This role requires availability to participate in 24×7 support coverage, including on‑call responsibilities. Your future duties and responsibilities Provide application support and maintenance for PowerBuilder applications. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues within agreed SLA timelines.
Develop, enhance, and maintain applications, ensuring high quality and adherence to coding standards. Participate in and perform code reviews, ensuring best practices are followed. Prepare and maintain documentation for applications, processes, and procedures.
Act as the operational acceptance lead for projects, ensuring readiness for production. Provide technical leadership by guiding and mentoring team members, assigning tasks, and monitoring progress. Act as the primary escalation point for incidents and lead problem management activities.
Coordinate ongoing maintenance tasks such as server upgrades, patching, and monitoring improvements. Communicate effectively with business stakeholders to understand requirements, provide updates, and manage expectations. Ensure effective participation in 24×7 on‑call rotation, handling high‑priority incidents and coordinating team response.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives in support processes, development standards, and system monitoring. Attributes and Skills Technical & Functional Strong PowerBuilder development and troubleshooting expertise. Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL.
Experience in application support (L2/L3) with 24×7 availability. Knowledge of incident, problem, and change management processes (ITIL or equivalent). Leadership & Behavioral Proven ability to lead a small to medium‑sized team while remaining hands‑on.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to prioritize, delegate, and ensure delivery under pressure. Skilled in mentoring and knowledge transfer to junior team members.
Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple parallel tasks. Proactive, decisive, and able to make sound judgments during critical incidents. Required qualifications to be successful in this role Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Must Have: Hands‑on experience with PowerBuilder 2017 or later, including PowerScript, DataWindows, UserObjects, and Reporting. Strong working knowledge of relational databases such as Oracle, with proficiency in PL/SQL and Stored Procedures. Practical experience with scripting languages such as Batch, VBScript, and Shell scripting.
Familiarity with source control systems such as Git or SVN. Exposure to Microsoft technologies, including ASP.NET, MVC, and C#. Working knowledge of SQL Server 2016.
