Senior Platform Engineer

Stolt-Nielsen Digital Innovation Centre

HyderabadFull-timeMid LevelOn-site

Job Description

We are recruiting a Senior Platform Engineer to own the health, performance and evolution of the global OutSystems platform at Stolt-Nielsen (SN).

This is deliberately an operations-first role. Around 80% of your week will be spent keeping our environments running well monitoring, incident response, deployments, upgrades, access management and performance tuning. The remaining 20% is hands-on development: the automation, tooling and platform components that make the operational work faster and less manual, plus occasional support to delivery teams on technical problems.

If you enjoy owning a platform end to end and would rather automate a problem than repeat a workaround, this role is built for you.

We take digital seriously. We invest in our teams through training and mentoring, and we give them the tools to work in a modern way. As we build up our engineering practice further, there is ample room for you to contribute, take initiative and shape our ways of working and technology landscape.

What you'll do:

Platform support and operations (80%)

Environment administration:

  • Administer and maintain our OutSystems environments across Development, Test, Acceptance and Production.
  • Manage configuration, environment setup and system resources across cloud and on-premise installations.
  • Manage user roles, permissions and access controls in line with our security policies.

Application lifecycle management:

  • Run deployments, tagging, versioning and rollbacks through OutSystems Lifetime.
  • Guard our ALM standards, and manage dependencies so that releases stay predictable.
  • Support new teams onboarding onto the platform so they can deliver reliably from the start.

Monitoring and performance:

  • Establish and maintain monitoring and alerting for availability, performance and errors.
  • Monitor and optimise platform performance, database usage and environment capacity.
  • Identify capacity constraints before they become incidents, and plan accordingly.

Incident and problem management:

  • Act as the escalation point for platform-related issues, coordinating with OutSystems Support where needed.
  • Lead root cause analysis and drive preventive maintenance so the same incident does not recur.
  • Maintain runbooks and operational documentation to a standard others can actually follow.

Upgrades and maintenance:

  • Plan, perform and document platform upgrades, patches and scheduled maintenance, working with our development and infrastructure teams.
  • Oversee database management on SQL Server, including backups, schema evolution and performance tuning.

Development and automation (20%):

  • Build automation that removes manual operational steps, deployment scripts, health checks, environment provisioning, routine reporting.
  • Integrate OutSystems into our CI/CD pipelines alongside the DevOps team.
  • Develop and maintain reusable platform components, integrations and shared services used across applications.
  • Provide hands-on technical support to OutSystems developers on integration, performance and architecture questions.
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and help define our operational standards for low-code environments.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience managing OutSystems platforms in an enterprise, multi-environment setup.
  • Strong understanding of OutSystems architecture across front-end, service and integration layers.
  • Working knowledge of OutSystems Lifetime, Service Center, Integration Studio and the Infrastructure Management Console.
  • Practical database administration experience-Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle or similar.
  • Working knowledge of Azure infrastructure, PaaS components and network and security fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with DevOps principles, CI/CD tooling and automation scripting in PowerShell, Python or Bash.
  • Excellent documentation skills and a genuine eye for operational detail.
  • The ability to work with developers, infrastructure teams and security specialists to keep the platform healthy and aligned with our wider goals.

Must-have skills:

  • 5+ years in IT operations, platform administration or DevOps roles.
  • 3+ years of OutSystems platform administration experience.
  • Strong knowledge of OutSystems Lifetime and environment management.
  • Database management on SQL Server or Oracle.
  • Platform monitoring, maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of OutSystems ALM, deployment flows and dependency management.
  • Familiarity with networking, firewalls and identity management using Azure AD or Entra ID.

Nice to have:

  • Scripting for operational automation at scale, rather than one-off fixes.
  • Experience introducing monitoring or observability tooling to a platform that lacked it.
  • Exposure to OutSystems Developer Cloud (ODC).
  • Experience supporting a geographically distributed user base across time zones.

How we'll measure success:

  • Our environments are stable, and unplanned downtime is rare and short.
  • Deployments are routine and low-drama, following a consistent ALM process.
  • Recurring manual tasks reduce over time because they have been automated away.
  • Platform documentation is current enough that a colleague can pick up an incident without you.
