Overview As a Senior Mechanical HVAC Engineer Professional in Jacobs’ Conshohocken, PA office, you will lead the design of mechanical and HVAC systems for advanced pharmaceutical and cGMP facilities. Your role will involve conceptual design, detailed engineering, project coordination, and client interaction, ensuring projects meet technical, budgetary, and schedule goals. Responsibilities Develop overall conceptual and Basis of Design‑level design approaches and documentation.
Establish HVAC and plant utility system philosophies. Prepare mechanical and utility equipment, construction specifications. Perform temperature, humidity, and utility load calculations.
Create airflow diagrams, pressurization plans, ductwork and piping plans. Generate P&ID’s, equipment plans, plant utility distribution plans, and system details. Develop building management system (BMS) control philosophy, details, and sequence of operations.
Provide construction assistance through submittal reviews, RFI responses, and site visits to verify construction compliance. Lead CAD/REVIT designers and manage design model development. Manage mechanical/utility scope in project budgets and schedules.
Assist in client development, marketing services, and proposal content related to mechanical disciplines. Travel as required for client development and project execution. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
At least 10 years of experience, including cGMP pharmaceutical facility design. Professional Engineer (PE) license highly preferred. Proficiency with building load calculation software (e.g., Trane Trace, Carrier HAP).
Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and other 3D design tools. Knowledge of building codes and relevant industry standards. Central utility plant design experience, including large chilled water, steam boiler, and condensate return systems.
Capability to lead a mechanical/utility team from concept through startup. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering. Experience in energy‑efficient and sustainable design approaches.
LEED accreditation. Refrigeration systems experience.
