Job Description
Position Overview Torus Talent is supporting a well-established, multi-discipline engineering consultancy in their search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Edmonton-based team. This firm delivers engineering solutions across complex heavy industrial and oil & gas projects, ranging from brownfield upgrades and retrofits to full-scale facility expansions. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering mechanical and piping design solutions across the full project lifecycle, from early-stage design through to commissioning and start-up.

Further Responsibilities Include the Following • Lead and support mechanical and piping design for oil & gas and heavy industrial projects • Develop and review P&IDs and mechanical design deliverables • Perform equipment sizing and specification for pumps, vessels, heat exchangers, and other mechanical systems • Support piping design, including material selection, layout input, and coordination with stress and design teams • Prepare engineering deliverables including datasheets, equipment specifications, line lists, and construction work packages • Review vendor documents and support procurement activities • Provide field support, including construction support, commissioning, and system start-up • Participate in design reviews and constructability assessments • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including process, electrical, and project management Ideal Candidate Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline • P.Eng. designation (APEGA) required • 10+ years of consulting engineering experience within oil & gas or heavy industrial environments • Strong experience with pressure equipment and piping systems • Familiarity with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME, CSA) • Experience supporting projects across design, procurement, and construction phases • Strong understanding of mechanical systems within industrial facilities • Ability to work independently and manage project scopes with minimal oversight • Strong communication and coordination skills Why This Firm • Established and reputable engineering consultancy with a strong presence in the energy sector • Exposure to a wide variety of projects across brownfield and greenfield environments • Full project lifecycle involvement from concept through commissioning • Collaborative, team-oriented environment with direct access to senior leadership • Opportunity to work in a multi-discipline setting without the bureaucracy of larger firms • Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits • Strong focus on professional growth and development Interested candidates are encouraged to send their resume in word format to this posting or email [email protected].
