Job Overview An experienced and values‑driven neonatal nurse leader is sought to join the South West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network (ODN) as the Senior Lead Nurse. The role is an influential part of the ODN triumvirate leadership team, working with the Network Clinical Director and Network Manager to set strategic direction and deliver region‑wide programmes.

Main Duties of the Job The Senior Lead Nurse is a senior clinical and professional leader responsible for quality, safety, workforce, education and personalised care across the network. The role includes: Setting and monitoring the strategic direction of the network Leading and developing a diverse portfolio of projects and initiatives Building relationships across systems and influencing decision making Championing workforce planning, service improvement, and quality governance Promoting personalised and compassionate neonatal care across all sites Qualifications & Training Registered Nurse (RN/RN Child/RM) Education to degree level or equivalent Evidence of continuing professional development in a relevant field Minimum of 3 years senior level experience on a Neonatal Unit Masters Degree (preferred) Recognised qualification in project / programme management (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP) UK professional registration required Fluent speaking of English in line with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 Knowledge & Experience Successful cross‑system partnership working Understanding of NHS commissioning arrangements and current policy Experience of service redesign or quality improvement methodology Specialist knowledge of Neonatal Services Comprehensive understanding of safety, risk and clinical governance processes Detailed knowledge of BadgerNet Neonatal Platform, national capacity reporting and income generation Experience with the Nurse Staffing Calculator/Tools Strong project / programme management and problem‑solving skills Data handling and analysis skills Managing a delegated budget and associated reporting Benefits A supportive and collaborative team within a mature network Opportunities to work at a strategic level while staying connected to service realities Flexibility in how and where you work, recognising the regional nature of the role The chance to make tangible change for neonatal services and workforce Attractive salary within the stated range and opportunities for professional development Support for health and wellbeing, and career development through management and training support Commitment to safeguarding and protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults EEO Statement We are an equal opportunities employer and actively work to recruit and retain a workforce that reflects the rich diversity of the local population.
