Senior IT Security Engineer

Location: Ottawa, Ontario (On-Site) Duration: 24 months Security Clearance: Secret and Controlled Goods Day-to-Day Responsibilities Design, develop and implement enterprise-level IT security solutions aligned with established engineering methodologies and security standards. Integrate security solutions with internal systems and external partner environments to ensure interoperability and compliance. Provide expert technical guidance and support across network security, cloud security, identity and access management, and security engineering domains.

Conduct threat and vulnerability assessments and implement mitigation strategies to strengthen system security posture. Develop, maintain, and manage secure configurations for networks, systems and applications in accordance with security policies. Perform security architecture design, including secure network design, encryption solutions and system hardening practices.

Support the deployment and sustainment of monitoring, logging, and audit solutions for threat detection and incident response. Lead and contribute to security testing, audits and Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) activities to ensure system integrity. Produce technical documentation, including design specifications, implementation plans, risk assessments, and security recommendations.

Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders through meetings, reviews, and briefings, while providing training and knowledge transfer on IT security practices. What You Bring To The Table 10+ years’ experience within the past 15 years in an IM/IT environment as an IT Security Engineer. 10+ years’ experience developing at least 3 of the following System Engineering documents: System Design Specifications, Build/Configuration Documents, Concept of Operations (ConOps), System Implementation Plans, Test Plans and Test Reports, and Life Cycle Support Plans. 10+ years’ experience within the past 15 years designing, developing and implementing IT security applications and infrastructure in at least 3 of the following areas: Network Access Control, Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems, Network Monitoring and Logging, Secure Network Architecture, Cryptography and Data Protection, Wireless Network Security, and Security Policy Compliance. 4+ years’ experience within the past 10 years in planning, implementation or in-service support of CSfC, STS or CDS solutions. 4+ years’ experience within the past 5 years in the following: Configuring, integrating and implementing NAC solutions. Configuring, integrating and implementing IDS/IPS.

Configuring, integrating and implementing secure network architectures. Working with cryptography and data protection solutions. Developing and implementing wireless network security solutions.
