For more information, you may visit Senior Irrigation Design Engineer Job Description A Senior Irrigation Design Engineer leads the planning, design, and implementation of advanced agricultural irrigation systems. They oversee hydraulic modeling, select efficient technologies, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor junior staff to deliver sustainable water management solutions. Core Responsibilities System Design & Engineering: Create detailed layout plans, topographic assessments, and hydraulic calculations of irrigation systems including farm irrigation systems.
Technology Selection: Evaluate soil types, climate data, and crop requirements to determine the most efficient irrigation methods (drip, sprinkler, or micro-irrigation). Project Management: Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), manage project budgets, and oversee the procurement of equipment. Multidisciplinary Coordination: Work closely with agronomists, civil engineers, and environmental specialists.
Quality Assurance: Conduct site inspections, test commissioning protocols, and ensure compliance with environmental and agricultural safety standards. Mentorship: Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and field teams. Key Qualifications & Skills Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Agricultural Engineering, Civil Engineering, Water Resources, or a closely related field.
Experience: Typically 8+ years of progressive experience in irrigation system design and agricultural water management. Software Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of industry-standard design and modeling software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS mapping, and hydraulic design tools like Epanet, WaterGEMS). Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze complex topographical, hydrological, and agronomic data.
