Job Description
The Senior Engineer is accountable to design, develop, implement, and support integration platforms/solutions. This role will collaborate closely with data analytics, cybersecurity, architecture, and product engineering teams. You are the technical lead of our integration platforms, solutions, and delivery partners, leveraging modern practices and tooling to enable our business.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities Design & develop integration solutions, platforms, guidelines, and standards Partner with architecture to create detailed designs Guide and mentor technical staff, and provide advice to management Collaborate with technical leaders and developers on enterprise solutions Provide recommendations for the integration roadmap related to solutions, platforms, resiliency, scalability, and security Participate in requirements gathering and analysis for multiple product initiatives Serve as an advisor to management and drive appropriate actions, ensuring implementation of compliance and communication protocols Engage in daily stand‑ups, requirements/estimation sessions, code reviews, and sprint retrospectives Provide developer technical support for complex platforms/solutions Operate in ambiguous situations and provide original/innovative process/technical guidance to others Make decisions under minimal guidance that significantly impact the organization Provide off‑business‑hour on‑call support for Integration Platforms in a weekly rotation Deploy/implement solution updates/upgrades into multiple environments Develop and deliver quality code, driving best practices, documentation, and knowledge sharing Manage different priorities and collaborate with cross‑functional teams Hands‑on experience in different deployment strategies Experience and Qualifications Degree in Computer Science, and 10+ years’ experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience 8+ years Azure cloud experience: have used a wide array of Azure resources and selected appropriate resources to solve complex business processes/issues 5+ years working with agile DevOps teams 5+ years leading technical delivery Highly experienced in event‑driven development, especially using Kafka or other messaging, pub‑sub systems such as MQ or Service Bus Expert knowledge of Microservices (and API) both in REST and SOAP, containers, and server‑less workloads with Docker Intimate knowledge of Microservice design patterns and a good track record of using them effectively Expert in building high‑performance distributed systems coupled with resiliency, security, and recovery applications Expert in managing, transforming, and storing complex data structures Experience mentoring/coaching developers and students Broad knowledge of all aspects of IT, including application development, network and system administration, quality assurance, application and data management, expert problem‑solving skills, and advanced interpersonal and communication skills including influencing others Nice to have Kubernetes, automated testing frameworks/tools, IIB and DataPower experience Experience with ITIL considered an asset Hands‑on experience in platform configuration, policy fine‑tuning, optimization, and maintenance Benefits A fun and friendly culture with colleagues who work together to win Travel privileges for you and your family, effective from your start date Savings and benefits programs that are flexible to meet your specific needs We embrace what makes each of us unique, and what makes us uniquely WestJet.
