Senior French Translator

Our client, a leading Canadian financial institution, is looking for a Senior French Translator to support internal Knowledge Management initiatives. This role will translate, edit, and proofread English and French content related to internal procedures and frontline processes. The successful candidate will work within an Agile environment and collaborate with content writers, content leads, intake specialists, and French-speaking team members across the organization.

Contract: 6 Months

Extension: Potential, based on business needs

Hybrid: 1–2 days per week onsite; Wednesdays and every 3rd Friday

Experience: 3+ years of translation experience

Key Responsibilities

• Translate written and spoken materials accurately between English and French.
• Translate and adapt internal procedures and content supporting frontline and back-office employees.
• Review, edit, and proofread translated content to ensure accuracy, clarity, grammar, and consistency.
• Relay concepts, ideas, and information effectively between English and French while maintaining the intended meaning and tone.
• Adapt content appropriately for French language and cultural requirements.
• Support internal content and procedure updates across various lines of business.
• Work within an Agile pod to support project-related translation and content activities.
• Collaborate with Content Writers, Content Leads, Intake Specialists, French Content Specialists, and other internal stakeholders.
• Manage multiple translation requests and deliver high-quality work within established timelines.
• Work with translation vendors when required.
• Use translation memory and terminology management tools to maintain consistency across content.
• Support content updates and translation activities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Must-Have Skills

• 3+ years of professional translation experience.
• Expert-level French and strong English proficiency.
• French/English bilingual language skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Translation.
• Experience working with translation memory software.
• Experience with MemoQ and MultiTerm or similar translation/terminology management tools.
• Strong editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to accurately translate and adapt concepts between English and French.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to linguistic accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

• Experience working with MemoQ and other translation tools.
• Experience working with HTML.
• Experience with Jira and ServiceNow.
• Experience working with SharePoint.
• Experience translating or editing internal organizational content and procedures.
• Experience working in an Agile environment or within a large organization.
• Experience working with translation vendors.
• Experience supporting content teams or Knowledge Management functions.
