Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer on the Unified Compute team, you will own the backend layer that makes compute provisioning, usage tracking, and billing reliable and scalable across multi-cloud and on-prem environments. You’ll shape architecture, data models, and APIs to support configurable, pay-as-you-go compute for scientists. You’ll collaborate with product, platform, and infrastructure teams to deliver a seamless, customer-centric platform experience.
This role offers ownership end-to-end and a clear impact on how researchers run workloads and understand costs.

- Own integration between Seqera Intelligent Compute and the Seqera Platform
- Manage compute environments across AWS, Azure, GCP, Kubernetes, HPC schedulers and GPU workloads
- Integrate with cloud provider APIs, handling partial failures and quota issues
- Own billing and pay-as-you-go path, ensuring accurate metering and invoicing
- Design data models and APIs that stay consistent across services and releases
- Improve error visibility and add tests/observability for faster incident diagnosis
- Collaborate with Platform, product, and support teams; document systems for sustainability
- Take design decisions within scope and ensure knowledge is documented
- 4+ years building and operating production backend services with ownership of at least one
- Strong in Java and/or Groovy, with Micronaut, Spring Boot or similar
- Hands-on experience with a major cloud provider API for provisioning resources
- Experience with Kubernetes workloads
- Commitment to data correctness and potentially billing/meters systems
- Experience designing REST APIs and data models, handling versioned integrations
- Accountability for a customer-facing production system
- Ability to operate with ambiguity and drive work independently
