Senior Engineer (Development Approvals) Organisation: Leicestershire County Council Work Location: County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester, LE3 8RA Salary: £43,860 - £47,829 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award pending) (10% of top of grade for Market Premia) Working Hours: 37 hours per week Contract Type: Permanent Closing Date: 3rd May 2026 About the Role This role involves working with the Development Approvals team to provide technical expertise on adoptable highway infrastructure to ensure compliance with current standards and support economic growth. Responsibilities include leading technical approvals of third‑party highways and transportation schemes, providing expert highway engineering advice, preparing technical and non‑technical reports, and negotiating with stakeholders. About You Apply if you have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification and demonstrable experience in: Senior level civil engineering project management and technical approvals of highway infrastructure works and associated legal agreements. Collaborative work with customers and stakeholders to deliver outcomes. Preparation of technical and non‑technical reports and providing advice based on guidance and standards such as DMRB, LHDG, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20 etc. Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
