About the Company Design ID is a specialist civil, structural and infrastructure engineering consultancy delivering high-quality projects across the UK and Ireland. Our work spans marine and coastal infrastructure, public realm and active travel schemes, buildings, structures, transport infrastructure, bridges, ports, harbours and complex multidisciplinary developments. About the Role We are seeking to appoint a Senior Engineer to play a key role in the delivery and continued growth of our business.
This is a senior technical and leadership role for an experienced Senior Engineer who is either Chartered or approaching Chartership, combining hands-on engineering with project delivery, client engagement and team leadership. Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland Act as Lead Engineer / Project Manager on small to medium-sized projects, or lead significant work packages on larger schemes Undertake, check and approve engineering design using Eurocodes and relevant UK standards Oversee and review technical calculations, drawings, reports and specifications Manage projects through planning and consenting, including statutory approvals where required Lead engagement with public and private clients, local authorities, architects, developers and contractors Manage programme, budget and resourcing to ensure efficient and profitable delivery Lead project QA, health & safety and sustainability considerations Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting technical and professional progression Contribute to winning work, fee proposals and early-stage project development Qualifications Degree or higher in Civil, Structural Engineering Typically, 5+ years’ relevant experience in engineering consultancy or contracting Chartered Engineer (CEng / MIEI / MIStructE or equivalent) or working towards chartership Strong technical experience in one or more of the following: Marine, coastal and port engineering, Public realm, active travel, greenways or blueways, Roads, bridges, rail or general infrastructure Required Skills Excellent capability across either civil / structural / geotechnical design Strong working knowledge of Eurocodes and UK standards Responsible for Team / Project Delivery Responsible for Team / Project Quality Assurance Team & Project Management responsibility Oversee a consistent quality of output from team Continuously innovate, improving quality & efficiency of output Preferred Skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Negotiating, supervisory and leadership skills Confident communicator with experience engaging directly with clients and stakeholders Commercially aware, with experience managing budgets, programmes and resources A collaborative leader who enjoys mentoring others and taking responsibility Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in a team.
