Brief Description

Sr Director, Market Access (Commercial) is responsible for executing comprehensive market access strategies to ensure optimal patient access, reimbursement, and affordability for client’s portfolio of therapies. This executive will serve as a key member of the Commercial Leadership Team for clients and partner across clinical, regulatory, medical affairs, pricing, and government affairs to support successful product launches and lifecycle management.

  • Lead the enterprise market access strategy team across Commercial, Medicare, and government channels (VA and Medicare).
  • Collaborate with the Medicaid Market access team when needed to coordinate client strategies.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership on payor dynamics, policy changes, and healthcare economics.
  • Support and advise clients on developing a formulary placement strategy and/or reimbursement across the portfolio.
  • Build and lead a high-performing market access team, that can successfully target, including National Accounts, Regional Accounts, Managed Care Marketing, and collaborate with Government Pricing & Contracting, and Patient Services / HUB Programs.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration with clients Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, and Government Affairs teams to align strategies across the organization.
  • Ensure access strategy is integrated into value messaging, HEOR evidence, and launch planning.
  • Implement pre-launch, launch, and post-launch access strategies for new therapies.
  • Support the development of value propositions and evidence strategies supporting payor negotiation.Collaborate with client HEOR and Medical Affairs to generate payor-relevant outcomes data.
  • Direct negotiations with national and regional payors to secure optimal access.
  • Develop client deliverables specific to non-Medicaid business.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Occasional Duties & Responsibilities

  • Travel as needed.
  • Professional development as needed.
  • Provide support across various functions and contributing to tasks outside of primary responsibilities as needed to support team objectives.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to remain seated for extended periods while performing desk-based tasks.
  • Ability to use a computer and related office equipment (keyboard, mouse, phone, etc.) for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for occasional office tasks (e.g., moving files, setting up equipment, etc.).
  • Ability to occasionally walk, bend, and stoop to access files or office equipment.
  • Good vision and manual dexterity to handle paperwork, documents, and office technology.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and in writing with colleagues and clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • MBA, MPH, PharmD, or related advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years in pharmaceutical market access, pricing, reimbursement, or payor strategy.
  • 10+ years leadership experience managing large cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated success securing national formulary coverage and access agreements.
  • Experience launching specialty, rare disease, or high-value therapies preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of U.S. healthcare payor landscape.
  • Expertise in value-based contracting and pricing strategy.
  • Strong executive leadership and stakeholder management skills.Ability to translate clinical and HEOR data into payor value proposition.
