We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our high-performing DataNext team—a hybrid role requiring both sophisticated data engineering capabilities and senior-level analytical agility. This position demands someone who can architect scalable pipelines while also serving as a trusted analytical partner to stakeholders, rapidly translating business questions into actionable insights. You’ll blend deep data engineering, governance, and quality expertise to own mission‑critical pipelines supporting healthcare financial data, IDR processes, revenue cycle integrity, and enterprise analytics. Equally important, you’ll directly support business users by crafting ad hoc analyses, reports, and visualizations that drive real‑time decision‑making across the organization. This role combines technical ownership with strategic impact, building scalable, reliable infrastructure while bridging legacy systems during modernization in a fast‑moving startup environment. You will work alongside exceptional talent—including proven leaders in pipeline stewardship, IDR domain mastery, and data quality—to deliver high‑quality results that protect revenue, reduce risk, enhance governance, and enable faster, data‑driven insights for C‑level stakeholders, cross‑functional teams, and business partners. Key Responsibilities Data Engineering & Pipeline Ownership Design, build, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines using Snowflake, DBT, and Azure services (including Azure DevOps/Repos for CI/CD, version control, and collaboration) Own end‑to‑end data engineering: ingestion, transformation (ELT modeling), quality monitoring, lineage, governance, and orchestration for batch/near‑real‑time workflows Investigate and resolve complex data quality issues; implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and validation to ensure integrity across pipelines, reports, and financial datasets Architect SQL‑heavy solutions (advanced queries, CTEs, stored procedures, views) and optimize performance in Snowflake (e.g., data metric functions, classification tagging, streams/tasks) Automate manual processes, enforce data governance policies (metadata management, compliance including HIPAA), and document standards using tools like Confluence or Notion Analytics & Stakeholder Enablement Respond rapidly to ad hoc data requests from business stakeholders, translating questions into efficient SQL queries and delivering insights with quick turnaround Create executive‑ready reports and analyses in Excel (including pivot tables, charts, and formatted deliverables) for leadership and operational teams Build and maintain self‑service visualizations in Power BI, Grafana, or similar platforms to enable stakeholder decision‑making Partner directly with Product Owners, operations teams, and executives to understand evolving analytical needs and proactively surface insights from healthcare financial data Demonstrate analytical creativity and business acumen—moving beyond “how” to answer “why” and “what does this mean for the business” Collaboration & Leadership Collaborate with analysts, developers, and onshore/offshore stakeholders to align architecture with evolving requirements (IDR, arbitration, invoicing, cooling/fee tracking) and gather/automate validation needs Mentor team members, knowledge‑transfer domain logic, and support legacy‑to‑modern transitions (sunsetting technical debt, formalizing scalable standards) Embrace agile methodologies (Jira/Azure DevOps tracking) and best practices for development, QA, deployment, and source code management (GitHub/Azure Repos) Required Qualifications Data Engineering Foundation 5+ years of hands‑on data engineering experience with proven ownership of production pipelines in complex, regulated environments Advanced proficiency in SQL (CTEs, joins, text parsing, window functions, performance optimization) and database object development (tables, views, procedures) Strong experience with Snowflake (performance tuning, data modeling, advanced features) Hands‑on with DBT for transformation modeling, testing, and documentation Proficiency in Azure DevOps/Repos for source control, CI/CD, and collaborative workflows Analytical & Reporting Excellence Demonstrated ability to write complex, efficient SQL queries for ad hoc analysis with fast turnaround times Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, formulas, data manipulation, and executive‑level formatting Experience creating visualizations and dashboards in Power BI, Grafana, Tableau, or similar tools Proven track record of translating ambiguous business questions into clear analytical outputs Ability to communicate technical findings to non‑technical stakeholders in clear, business‑focused language Core Competencies Demonstrated ability to deliver high‑impact results under pressure (revenue‑critical fixes, error reduction, process automation, and urgent analytical requests) Excellent problem‑solving, accountability, analytical skills, and cross‑functional collaboration Ability to quickly understand complex healthcare/financial data relationships and derive actionable insights Proven track record of meeting deadlines, communicating progress, and building stakeholder relationships Comfortable context‑switching between deep technical work and rapid‑fire analytical requests Preferred Qualifications Experience in healthcare, revenue cycle, claims/arbitration, or regulated data (HIPAA compliance) Snowflake certification (SnowPro Core or Advanced: Data Engineer/Analyst) Advanced Power BI or Grafana expertise with DAX or similar query languages Knowledge of orchestration tools (Airflow/Dagster) and data governance documentation Background mentoring teams and bridging legacy/modern systems in a startup/fast‑paced setting Previous experience in a hybrid data engineer/senior analyst role serving business stakeholders directly Perks & Benefits Location: Hybrid/Remote, high preference to be based in or within a commutable distance of our Addison, TX office, as this role requires in‑person meetings Multiple medical plan options Health Savings Account with company contributions Dental & vision coverage for you and your dependents 401(k) with company match Vacation, sick time & company paid holidays Company wellbeing program with health insurance incentives What's Next?
