Job Description
Senior Clinical Nurse The closing date is 25 May 2026 Overview We offer a 12‑month temporary post or secondment covering maternity leave from August 2026 in the department of Liaison Psychiatry within the Older People’s Service. This is a band 6 senior clinician role. Main Duties Provide biopsychosocial assessment, risk assessment and short‑term psychosocial interventions to patients admitted to general hospital beds.
Develop robust clinical formulation and management plans that meet the needs of patients and ward teams. Autonomously manage a small caseload and support new patient assessments and intensive input for higher‑need patients. Advise and educate general hospital colleagues on mental health presentations, risk management, legal frameworks and available statutory or voluntary community services.
Collaborate with general hospital colleagues to meet concurrent physical and mental health needs. Deliver teaching to staff and trainees in formal or informal settings. Participate in twice‑monthly teaching sessions, reflective practice sessions, supervision and shadowing opportunities.
About the Trust The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is the main provider of mental health and learning disability services in Leeds and York, with specialist inpatient services and strong links to teaching and development. Person Specification Qualifications: Registered mental health nurse, with preferred experience in Liaison Psychiatry. Experience: At least 2 years at Band 5 or above.
Skills: Evidence of partnership working with a wide range of services and professionals. Knowledge: High level of competence in assessment, treatment and evaluation of interventions with service users and carers using a person‑centred approach. Values Based: Demonstrated ability to spot and address small issues, provide support to colleagues and show kindness or understanding.
