Senior Business Analyst – Vancouver Fraser Port Authority Join us in enabling trade through Canada’s largest port. The senior business analyst plays a critical role in planning and executing project deliverables, spearheading complex and multifaceted business‑analysis activities for system implementation, transformation, and optimisation initiatives. The role demands comprehensive business analysis, proficient requirements management, and user‑acceptance and adoption techniques, championing the business perspective throughout the project lifecycle.

Responsibilities Develop detailed artifacts and specifications that cover scoping, options, estimates, functional requirements, and user acceptance testing for complex initiatives, guaranteeing alignment with business needs. Engage with stakeholders at all levels to elicit requirements, assess feasibility, and conduct scenario assessments for selection and design decisions, fostering inclusive and informed planning processes. Select, adopt, and adapt the most suitable requirements elicitation and testing methods, tools, and techniques to ensure rigorous analysis and accurate results.

Lead collection, analysis, and cleanup of data for mapping and migration, ensuring data integrity and usability for business operations. Play a key role in solution design from a functional perspective, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and contribute to the selection process. Lead business‑analysis‑related problem‑solving efforts, providing substantiated recommendations with comprehensive analysis, indicators, artifacts, and solutions to the project manager in addressing project challenges.

Identify potential risks through detailed analysis, aiding in the development of mitigation strategies with the project manager. Produce user guides and training materials to facilitate user adoption and improve customer service, tailored for various audiences. Deliver findings and analysis in transparent, concise, and adaptable formats for all stakeholders, utilizing written, visual, and verbal communication methods.

Establish clear requirements baselines with prioritization and ensure strict adherence to change control procedures, documenting and communicating any requirement changes to minimize impact on project progress and objectives. Engage in project closure and lessons‑learned activities to validate solutions with the business stakeholders, ensuring delivery aligns with business needs and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in an acceptable field of study, preferably in computer science, management information systems, or business administration.

Formal education and certification such as the Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or equivalent, highly preferred. Minimum five years of direct, recent, and progressive demonstrable experience in business analysis, showcasing a proven track record of requirements elicitation and management. Experience delivering business analysis for at least five full‑lifecycle systems implementation projects; proficiency with IIBA BABOK and PMBOK standards.

Prior experience in requirements management for complex systems implementation projects, preferably COTS solutions for enterprise functions such as HR, contract management, and real‑estate management using both predictive and adaptive approaches. Proficiency in business process analysis methods, including model creation, test planning and case writing, functional requirement specifications supported by user stories, system stories, wireframes, ERDs, and system context diagrams. Thorough understanding of process‑improvement methodologies such as Agile, Six Sigma, BPMN, and RUP.

Intermediate proficiency with Excel, Jira, ServiceNow, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and diagramming applications. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technically and non‑technically to diverse audiences. Ability to create impactful presentations and project artifacts, translating detailed information into visual summaries for presentations and comprehensive project artifacts.
