Job Description

The Senior BI Analyst/Data Analyst will contribute to the design, development and maintenance of strategic, high-profile executive-level dashboards/reports and will play a key role in developing database objects, metrics, dashboards/reports using Microsoft BI technologies (SQL Server 2016 Enterprise, Power BI, SSIS, Excel, etc). They will also assist business in developing business cases and forecasting/planning using data from data warehouses. • Design, develop and maintain data warehouses to integrate data from the most appropriate data sources to ensure accurate and timely reporting. • Design, develop and maintain Power BI dashboards/reports. • Develop data models and schemas to accurately represent structured and unstructured raw data in databases • Transform raw data into preprocessed data to be used in generating actionable insights • Proactively seek to understand end-user requirements in order to implement effective data visualizations in dashboards/reports. • Proactively seek opportunities to automate the most time and resource intensive processes related to data collection validation, transformation, etc. to optimize the production and delivery of dashboards/reports. • Contribute to the design and implementation of branding (i.e., standardized “look and feel”) for all dashboards/reports. • Assist in the development of a future state BI architecture and roadmap. • Help investigate and diagnose issues and ensure problems and defects are resolved in a timely manner. • Analyze data for trends and building analytical models to determine revenue opportunities, minimize risk and assist business in financial modelling for business cases, compensation plans, sales targets, etc. • Manage the Planning and forecasting process • Play lead role in analytics requirements of business. Qualifications • 5 years hands-on technical Business Intelligence experience with advanced knowledge in Microsoft BI technologies (SQL Server, Power BI, Power Pivot, Visual Basic). • Advanced knowledge of Excel and reporting tools, VB, relational database tools such as Access. • Designing ETL processes, including development of relational data model • Strong SQL skills, including common table expressions, window functions, joins, complex data types, stored procedures and update scripts • Experience in building and updating SSIS ETL workflows • Ability to analyze large data sets • Developed financial models and analyses relating to Plan and Forecasting, business cases • Excellent interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills. • Ability to work effectively in a self-directed manner and also as part of a project team. • Ability to effectively handle ambiguous, ad hoc tasks and changes in direction and priorities in response to unexpected events and circumstances. • Experience with other BI tools such as Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc. is an asset • Experience with Cloud technologies (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS) is an asset This is permanent position located in Toronto.
