Job Description

\n

Senior Automation & Mechatronics Engineer
\n RETAINED SEARCH | EXCLUSIVE LISTING
\n About the Company
\n Our client is part of a global organisation that designs and delivers advanced industrial wireless remote-control, automation and safety solutions for the mining, heavy mobile equipment and industrial sectors.

\n

From autonomous drill rigs to IoT-enabled machinery, machine safety systems and bespoke automation solutions, every project is different. Rather than supplying off-the-shelf products, the engineering team works closely with customers to develop innovative solutions tailored to their specific operational requirements.

\n

As demand continues to grow, we’re looking for an experienced Senior Mechatronics Engineer to provide technical leadership while remaining hands-on in the design and development of cutting-edge automation solutions.

\n

About the Role
\n This is far more than a software development role.
\n While software engineering is a key part of the position, you’ll also lead complex automation projects from concept through to commissioning, mentor a small team of engineers and work directly with customers to develop innovative solutions.

\n
    \n
  • Lead customised automation and software development projects from concept through to commissioning.
  • \n
  • Design and develop software for industrial automation, remote-control and machine safety systems.
  • \n
  • Mentor and support a team of three Software/Mechatronics Engineers.
  • \n
  • Work directly with customers to develop tailored automation and control solutions.
  • \n
  • Provide technical leadership, problem-solving and engineering guidance across multiple projects.
  • \n
\n

About You
\n You’ll be an experienced Mechatronics, Controls, Automation or Embedded Software Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, leading projects and developing people.
\n Ideally, you’ll bring:

\n
    \n
  • Strong experience developing software for industrial automation or machine control systems.
  • \n
  • Experience with CodeSys, C/C++, Python, Linux and/or PLC programming.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of industrial communications, control systems or machine safety.
  • \n
  • The ability to mentor and develop other engineers.
  • \n
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication and customer engagement skills.
  • \n
\n

Experience with Qt, IoT technologies or AutoCAD Electrical will be highly regarded but isn’t essential.

\n

What’s in it for You?

\n
    \n
  • Work on genuinely innovative automation projects where no two solutions are the same.
  • \n
  • Join a growing global business with genuine long-term career opportunities.
  • \n
  • Flexible working hours within an outcomes-focused culture.
  • \n
  • Flat organisational structure with direct access to leadership.
  • \n
  • Daily team breakfasts, monthly BBQs and regular social events.
  • \n
  • Opportunity to progress into Engineering or Operations Management as the business continues to grow.
  • \n
\n

Please note
\n This is a permanent role, and applicants must have working rights that align with long-term employment requirements in Australia.
\n Sponsorship will not be provided.
