Senior Accountant

We are a Singapore group — six entities across four business lines: immigration consultancy, private education, a food‑court platform and its outlet companies. We are also building our own accounting system, already in production and keeping real books.

Inside it, AI reads documents, drafts entries, flags anomalies and proposes reconciliation matches — and every one of those is a draft awaiting a human decision. Which leaves a question nobody here can answer for us:

Which drafts may an accountant reasonably accept, and which must always be posted by a person?

An engineer cannot draw that line. Only someone who has kept books can.

FOUR THINGS YOU WOULD DO

1. Own two financial years of accounts outright — from source documents through to unaudited financial statements and a filed corporate tax return. This is yours end to end; where you judge a position needs external professional review, you say so and we retain it.
2. Post the books yourself, daily. Wherever the system still makes you repeat something by hand, that is a defect you are entitled to have fixed, not endure.
3. Test what the system and its AI produce, and reject what is wrong. Shape the chart of accounts and recognition policy, and write the operating procedures the software then enforces. Your sign-off is the release gate, not a courtesy.
4. Go to market with us once the product is ready — title and pay reviewed upward at that stage.

REQUIREMENTS

1. 4+ years of Singapore accounting experience.
2. Multiple full sets of accounts owned end to end — not one ledger inside a large finance team.
3. Hands‑on with unaudited financial statements, GST returns and corporate tax filing (Form C‑S / ECI).
4. You have reconstructed a backlog from incomplete records and can describe how you did it.
5. Open to AI and automation in accounting work — and clear‑eyed about where it goes wrong.
6. ACCA, CA Singapore or a local accountancy degree — in progress or paused halfway is fine. We care what you have owned, not how many papers you have cleared.
7. The right to work in Singapore without employer sponsorship. This role does not come with work pass sponsorship.
8. Working proficiency in Chinese and English is a genuine requirement of this role. You will deal directly in Mandarin with food‑court operators, stall owners and part of our client base, and work with Chinese‑language contracts and supporting documents; all statutory statements, tax computations and system documentation are produced in English.

Corporate services and small‑practice backgrounds are especially welcome — handling a dozen clients' books at once is exactly the instinct this job needs.

NOT REQUIRED

• Any programming.
• Signing an audit opinion.
• Absorbing risk quietly. Asking for external advice on a position is a good answer here, not a weak one.
• Knowing everything. We want someone who knows what to ask.
• Working solo. A group finance adviser and an entry clerk are already in place.

PAY AND PROGRESSION

• S$4,500 – S$5,500 per month, by experience, plus CPF.
• Three‑month probation, with a review after probation and annually.
• An increase and a step up in title when all three are true: you are presenting the platform externally on our behalf; the product has reached five external clients; and you have been an active participant in building and promoting it. This is written into the contract, with travel and presentation allowances.

HOW THE INTERVIEW RUNS

About an hour, mostly you talking. The main questions are published in advance, so you can bring a plan rather than a rehearsed answer. Fifteen minutes are spent with the system open, a real contract and a page of bank statement in front of you. "I would need to check that" is a good answer here, not a weak one.
