Senior Accountant - Financial Reporting

About the Role

Our client is looking for a diligent and experienced Senior Accountant specializing in Financial Reporting to join their team in Queenstown . This position plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of the company's financial statements and reports. You will be responsible for managing accounting operations, preparing financial analyses, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).

The ideal candidate possesses strong technical accounting skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team environment, contributing to the financial integrity of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS .
• Manage the general ledger and ensure all journal entries are accurate and properly supported.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations to external auditors.
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
• Support financial planning and analysis activities, providing data for management reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field; CA(SA) or equivalent qualification is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in accounting, with a strong emphasis on financial reporting .
• In-depth knowledge of IFRS and South African accounting standards.
• Proficiency in accounting software ("e.g., Sage, SAP") and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities .
• Experience working within the financial services sector is advantageous.
