BST Canada is a forward-thinking real estate investment and development company delivering exceptional value through its creative, professional, and hands-on approach. As our portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking a Senior Accountant, Financial Reporting and Analysis to support the financial management of our expanding real estate investment platform while ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across a diverse portfolio of operating, investment, and development entities.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced real estate environment where no two days are the same. Reporting to the Director of Financial Reporting, you will play a critical role in financial reporting, IFRS compliance, project accounting, and supporting strategic business decisions. Working across construction, acquisitions, asset management, leasing, and property management, you will help ensure the financial integrity of the organization while contributing to operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Why Join BST Canada?

Join an international organization with a 50-year legacy of supporting communities that has grown to serve Israel, Canada, the United Kingdom and Europe, while offering meaningful careers grounded in enthusiasm, integrity, and respect.

At BST Canada, you'll join a collaborative, entrepreneurial team where your expertise will directly support the financial management of a growing real estate investment and development portfolio. Working alongside experienced professionals across finance, development, construction, asset management, leasing, and property management, you'll gain exposure to complex real estate transactions while contributing to meaningful business decisions and continuous improvement.

If you enjoy applying your technical accounting expertise to solve complex financial challenges, improving reporting processes, and supporting the continued growth of a dynamic real estate organization, this is an opportunity to build your career while making a measurable impact.

About the Career Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Director of Financial Reporting, this role is responsible for the execution of accounting operations, financial reporting, consolidated financial statements, project accounting, and financial analysis across BST Canada's real estate investment and development portfolio.

Success in this role requires exceptional technical accounting knowledge combined with strong business acumen, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to build collaborative relationships across the organization. The successful candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, professionalism, and accountability. Beyond producing accurate financial information, this individual will contribute meaningful financial insight that supports informed business decisions and the continued growth of the organization.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate accounting records, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation across multiple legal entities.
  • Coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion of all financial reporting requirements.
  • Lead the preparation of consolidated and non-consolidated IFRS financial statements, including supporting schedules (including income and deferred taxes), working papers, and note disclosures.
  • Support acquisitions, construction and asset management teams through project accounting, property analyses, cost tracking, and financial analysis.
  • Liaise with property management accounting teams to review property-level financial results, investigate variances, and propose adjustments when necessary.
  • Prepare institutional quarterly reports and PowerPoint presentations, financial analysis, variance reporting, and information supporting executive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with tax advisors for the preparation and review of corporate and partnership tax returns and annual tax filings.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, and financial planning activities.
  • Coordinate audit preparation and work closely with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and financial institutions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by strengthening accounting processes, internal controls, financial reporting, and system efficiencies.
  • Collaborate across finance, development, construction, leasing, property management, and executive leadership to ensure accurate and meaningful financial information supports business objectives.

What You Bring

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and a passion for continuous improvement; comfortable operating in a lean team environment and taking ownership beyond a defined role.
  • A demonstrated commitment to accuracy, accountability, and delivering high-quality financial information.
  • A proactive, organized, self-starting approach with the ability to independently manage multiple priorities and deliverables, identify issues, and propose solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, recommend practical solutions, and improve financial processes.
  • University degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
  • CPA designation completed or actively pursuing.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
  • Real estate industry experience, highly preferable in multifamily, with exposure to investment properties, LP structures, property-level reporting, and debt structures; experience in development, construction, property management, or other asset-intensive industries is also valued.
  • Strong IFRS technical expertise, with proven experience preparing and reviewing IFRS financial statements, including complex areas such as consolidation, fair value, leases, revenue recognition, and equity accounting.
  • Big 4 or equivalent public accounting background, with audit or advisory experience serving public companies or large private groups, and a strong foundation in financial reporting and controls.
  • Public company reporting experience, including quarterly and annual reporting cycles, MD&A support, and note disclosures under tight external deadlines.
  • Full-cycle close experience across multiple legal entities, including consolidations and intercompany eliminations.
  • Experience with multifamily residential accounting, equity-accounted investments, and multi-entity consolidations is considered a significant asset.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling proficiency; experience with consolidation tools or real estate ERP platforms such as Yardi is an asset.
  • Management reporting and presentation skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality financial reporting packages and presentations for senior management, including clear commentary and variance analysis.
  • Exceptional organizational and relationship-building skills, with the ability to clearly communicate complex accounting issues to non-technical stakeholders such as asset management and executives.
  • A strong work ethic and drive, with a willingness to work extended hours during quarter-end and year-end cycles to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
