Job Description

Keep Left is hiring a Senior Account Manager on a six-month fixed-term contract to work exclusively within the in-house media team of one of Australia Post - based in Sydney.

This is a rare opportunity for a communications and PR professional to cut their teeth with one of Australia’s most respected media teams. This full-time role will report to a Senior PR Manager and support the delivery of a busy, high-profile media and communications program, delivered in partnership with Australia Post's PR partner, Keep Left.

The role is suited to someone who knows how to work at pace, build trusted media and stakeholder relationships, and manage multiple priorities. You’ll bring strong media knowledge, excellent writing skills and the judgement to support both proactive storytelling and reactive issues management in a fast-paced and highly visible organisation.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF THIS ROLE.

You’ll help develop and deliver messaging, PR plans, media opportunities and campaigns that support our client’s strategic priorities, reputation objectives and commercial outcomes. You’ll draft media materials, messaging, briefing notes, Q&As and stakeholder updates, while helping identify strong story angles and opportunities across earned, owned, digital and social channels.

You’ll also support issues and media management activity, including monitoring reputational risks, coordinating timely responses and working with internal stakeholders to simplify complex information into clear, credible communications. The role will involve liaising with journalists, agencies, partners, internal teams and spokespeople, as well as organising media calls, interviews, press conferences and other media engagements.

This is a hands-on role in a busy corporate media team, so you’ll need to be calm under pressure, strong on detail and confident working across competing priorities, tight deadlines and multiple stakeholders.

THE EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR.

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Proven experience in PR, media relations, communications or corporate affairs, ideally in an agency environment or with a large, complex organisation
  • Strong knowledge of the Australian media landscape across traditional and new media, and strong working media relations skills across proactive and reactive activity
  • Experience coordinating media interviews, media calls, press conferences and events
  • Excellent writing skills across media releases, statements, briefing notes, pitches, Q&As and key messages
  • Experience working with senior stakeholders and preparing them for media engagement
  • Strong judgement, discretion and the ability to work quickly while maintaining accuracy
  • Experience in reactive media and issues management, including working in fast-moving and high-pressure environments

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

The successful candidate will bring:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building ability
  • Strong planning, prioritisation and project management skills
  • High attention to detail and sound judgement
  • Ability to simplify complex information into clear communications
  • Collaborative, adaptable and professional in fast-paced environments
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in communications, PR or journalism

KEY DETAILS

While you’ll be employed by Keep Left on a fixed-term contract, the role will be performed exclusively in-house, based in our client’s Sydney office and reporting to a Senior PR Manager.

  • Contract: Six-month fixed-term contract via Keep Left
