SEND Specialist - Science

Prospero Teaching are partnered with Local Councils, SEND teams and Schools throughout the UK. We have a high demand for one-to-one or small group SEND Specialist Tutors who have experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and are commutable to the Gateshead area.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced SEND Specialist Tutor to deliver personalised 1:1 lessons for students with a range of complex needs, including reduced mobility, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and other neurodiverse or additional learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience supporting students at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with a particular focus on Science. You will be responsible for designing and delivering bespoke lesson plans tailored to each student's individual needs, learning style, and educational goals.

Contract/Position Details:

• Location - Gateshead
• Position - SEND Specialist Tutor
• Type of work - Contract
• Start date - ASAP
• Setting - either within the student's home or in the community (learning hub/library)
• Duration - Until the pupil is able to find a suitable school placement
• Contract type - Temporary
• Full-time/part-time availability, ranging from 2-30 hours p/w per student
• Rate of pay - up to 30 per hour (negotiable)

Your role with us:

• Deliver one-to-one or tuition supporting students with SEND, focusing on building confidence, helping to adapt the students' methods of learning and focusing on Key stage 3 and Key stage 4 level education.
• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular, constructive feedback to students and their families.
• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports.

Experience, Training and Qualifications of the SEND Specialist Tutor:

• Children related/Education qualification
• Possess UK classroom teaching experience
• Be creative, patient and willing to think outside of the box
• Have experience working with students with SEND including ASD, ADHD, GLD and challenging behaviour

To be eligible for this role, the potential SEND Specialist Tutor must:

• Hold the right to work in the UK
• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
• Have a background in Tutoring Key stage 3 or Key Stage 4 level science
• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
