The Role We are seeking an experienced Security Engineerto join a high-performing cyber security and technology delivery team. This is a hands‑on role focused on designing and implementing security controls, assessing security risks, and embedding security‑by‑design principles throughout solution delivery. You will play a key role in ensuring technology solutions meet organisational security requirements while supporting compliance, accreditation, and governance obligations.
The ideal candidate will bring strong security architecture experience, a deep understanding of security frameworks and controls, and a proven track record of supporting secure technology delivery across enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement product‑specific security controls aligned with organisational security requirements and standards.
- Provide security architecture guidance for technology solutions, platforms, applications, and services.
- Perform security assessments, threat modelling, vulnerability reviews, and risk analysis activities.
- Identify security risks and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies and security controls.
- Embed security‑by‑design principles throughout the project and delivery lifecycle.
- Collaborate with project teams, engineers, architects, and stakeholders to ensure security requirements are incorporated into solution design and implementation.
- Review solution architectures, technical designs, and implementation approaches to ensure security compliance.
- Support security testing, validation, and assurance activities throughout delivery.
- Assist with vulnerability remediation planning and risk treatment activities.
- Support accreditation and compliance activities, including evidence gathering and security documentation.
- Develop and maintain security artefacts, architecture documents, risk assessments, and security implementation guidance.
- Contribute to governance reviews, security audits, and compliance assessments.
- Provide security advice on industry standards, regulatory obligations, and security best practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen security processes, controls, and delivery practices.
What You'll Need
- Experience as a Security Architect, Cyber Security Consultant, Security Engineer, or similar cyber security role.
- Strong experience in security architecture and secure solution design.
- Proven experience designing and implementing security controls across enterprise technology environments.
- Experience conducting vulnerability assessments, threat analysis, and security reviews.
- Strong understanding of security‑by‑design principles and secure delivery practices.
- Experience supporting compliance, accreditation, governance, and assurance activities.
- Knowledge of security frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST, Essential Eight, ISM, or similar.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and developing security recommendations.
- Strong understanding of identity and access management, security monitoring, encryption, and data protection principles.
- Experience working with business and technical stakeholders to translate security requirements into practical solutions.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and risk management capabilities.
Desirable Skills
- Experience securing cloud environments across Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and secure software development lifecycles.
- Experience supporting technology accreditation and security assessment processes.
- Understanding of application security, API security, and container security concepts.
- Experience with vulnerability management, penetration testing remediation, or security tooling.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, SABSA, CCSP, Azure Security Engineer, or equivalent.
- Experience working within large‑scale enterprise or government transformation programs.
- Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements across highly regulated environments.
