About the Role

Full-time, temporary Science Teacher (paternity cover) at The British School of Barcelona, Castelldefels campus, starting October 2026.

Responsible for delivering the IGCSE Triple and Double Award Science, IBDP and A Level programmes, supporting our science curriculum and student development.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Science at KS3 and double science at KS4.
  • Deliver outstanding, innovative and inspirational lessons.
  • Set high expectations and track progress using data, observations and assessments.
  • Maintain discipline according to school procedures and encourage punctuality, behaviour and work standards.
  • Assess students’ work in line with school policies, referring to student performance targets.

Departmental Contribution

  • Support the vision and delivery of the science department and the school.
  • Collaborate on planning to develop an engaging curriculum.
  • Support robust and formative assessment systems and intervention programmes.
  • Contribute to professional development discussions and seek opportunities for personal growth.

Other Responsibilities

  • Participate in staff development and performance management programmes.
  • Attend staff meetings, open evenings, parents’ evenings, assemblies and morning briefings.
  • Act as tutor supporting pastoral care for your form group.
  • Support the extracurricular programme of the school.
  • Carry out tasks reasonably required by the Headteacher and Principal.

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in teaching Biology at GCSE and IBDP or A Level standards.
  • Ability to teach KS3 Science and another IGCSE double award science discipline is an advantage.
