Job Description
A Physical Therapist (PT) is needed for a K-12 school located near Laurel, MD. This full-time contract position supports students ages 3 to 21 and operates on a calendar that includes the Extended School Year (ESY) with continuation into the next school year. Location: Laurel, Maryland Schedule: 35 hours per week, Monday-Friday, daytime hours with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Flextime scheduling is available. Some early morning and evening consults and training sessions are required. This is a 12-month position including the 4-week summer ESY program.
Caseload: Pediatric and adolescent clients ages 3-21 (details discussed during interview) Contract Duration: Current school year (CSY) with potential extension into next school year (NSY) Responsibilities: Provide comprehensive physical therapy evaluations and treatments for children and young adults with multiple disabilities Implement interventions targeting sensory-motor development and musculoskeletal function Utilize orthotics, wheelchairs, adaptive equipment, and assistive devices as appropriate Collaborate with educators, therapists, and family members to develop and adjust individualized treatment plans Participate in consults and training sessions as required Qualifications: Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners Thorough understanding of normal and abnormal sensory-motor development Expertise in assessment and treatment techniques for individuals aged 3 to 21 with multiple disabilities Knowledge of orthotics, wheelchairs, and adaptive positioning equipment appropriate for pediatric and adolescent populations Strong communication and collaboration skills This role offers a meaningful opportunity to support students' physical development in an educational environment with flexibility in scheduling.
