Job Info The role of the Sales Engineer (SE) is to provide quality pre-sales technical support to the Cogent sales organization. The Sales Engineer interacts with clients and supports salespeople and sales management. The SE qualifies opportunities, resolves all technical issues arising from the sales engagement, helps clients define specifications and requirements, and presents technical information to small and large audiences. The SE is also responsible for training sales reps on network technology and products. Depending on the supported sales markets the position may require up to 30% travel. Compensation Starting / Initial Base Salary Pay Range: $100,000-$125,000/yr. Specific offers within the listed pay ranges are determined by a variety of factors such as experience, education, skills, certifications and business needs. Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Include: Provide technical support to both internal salespeople and external customers Attend sales and customer meetings, over the phone and in-person Develop technical responses and strategy for RFIs and RFPs Administer technical training and guidance to sales reps and management Provide customer advocacy for all post-sale implementation issues until resolved Ensure correct technical content of all customer orders Design customer technical solutions with engineering diagrams Understand and convey technical advantages of Cogent services Other duties as assigned by management Qualifications (Include Education Requirements, Experience Level, Required Skills) 3+ years in the telecom/Internet industry or related field providing technical sales support General understanding of the global telecommunications technologies and services Good understanding of the set of products offered by Cogent: Internet and IP addresses Virtual Private Networks (including Ethernet VPLS and MPLS IP-VPN) Colocation Optical Wavelengths Self-starting, will take initiative and be able to work well in a team environment Proven experience with managing multiple projects and opportunities simultaneously Exemplary organizational skills and time management planning Understanding of the sales cycle and the solution selling process Proactive communication style ensuring timely status of projects to sales reps and customers Excellent problem-solving skills Ability to hear and understand specific customer requirements as they relate to Cogent products and services Extract hidden or unrealized customer requirements and gain consensus on these requirements Creatively synthesize solutions, within the scope and limitations of Cogent products and services, once all requirements have been discovered Ability to travel Fluency in English is a must, other languages are welcome By submitting an application or resume for this position, I understand that is an in-office position.
