Engineering Full Time Ottawa, ON $80,000 - $100,000 CAD per year

Position Summary
We are seeking a talented Ruby on Rails Software Developer to join our expanding development team at Leonardo Canada Inc. (LCI). As a developer, you will play a critical role in building and scaling our platform while contributing to our overall product vision. Key Responsibilities:
- Understand product requirements and detailed system design
- Translate system design to software architecture and implementation of features across the entire stack (frontend and backend).
- Contribute to technical discussions and solution design
- Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
- Design and optimize database schemas
- Monitor and improve database and system performance
- Create unit, integration and functional tests
- Participate in code reviews, ensuring quality and security standards.
- Debug and resolve application bugs
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Owner, Systems, Software, Verification & Validation)
Required Qualifications
- 1-6 years of professional experience as a Ruby on Rails developer.
- Experience with version control tools such as Git and platforms such as Bitbucket, GitHub, etc.
- Experience with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Knowledge of building RESTful APIs and working with third-party APIs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Desirable Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban.
- Familiarity with background job processing tools like SideKiq, Faktory, ActiveJob.
- Experience with Mapping and Geospatial technologies
- Experience with HTML Over the Wire (Hotwire)
- Familiarity with Docker and containerized environments.
- Experience with GoLang including understanding of syntax, idioms, and best practices
- Knowledge of DevOps tools like Jenkins, Bitbucket, SonarQube
- Experience contributing to technical design documentation.
Security Clearance
Given the nature of our software development work, it is a condition of employment that the successful candidate receive the required security clearances. Successful candidates must be eligible for Controlled Goods Regulations Program (CGRP) government clearances and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) . In addition, candidates must be able to obtain a Canadian Industrial Security Clearance to NATO SECRET level.

In general, in order to obtain these clearances, you
- Must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada;
- Must have lived in Canada continuously for the past 10 years;
