Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Resident Engineer to join our team. The Resident Engineer will primarily provide oversight and construction management activities for major water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including pipelines and pump stations. This role involves ensuring compliance with plans and specifications, preparing work according to company standards, and meeting established deadlines.

The position requires full‑time on‑site presence. Key Responsibilities: Review RFIs (Requests for Information) and submittals for compliance with specifications. Track schedule compliance, manage material testing, and special inspection activities.

Interface with the public, regulatory, and permitting agencies, ensuring compliance with SWPPP (Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan). Supervise inspectors and review as‑built contractor drawings monthly. Review technical plans and specifications for compliance with the owner and contractor.

Review and recommend approval of monthly pay applications for work completed. Review and manage contractors' schedules, providing monthly reviews and recommendations to the owner. Support the Project Manager with various technical activities and reviews.

Understand construction management activities, risks, and the importance of documentation. Comprehend contract laws associated with construction management, including the Public Contract Code. Understand overall project construction budgets, review and approve daily extra work tags, and understand their impact on contract project budgets.

Contact peers and colleagues for potential hires. Provide performance reviews of assigned inspectors. Model successful behaviors and activities consistent with good construction management practices.

Lead the project construction team for successful project completion. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four‑year college or university required. Working knowledge of standard Division I specifications and their application. 5+ years of relevant experience in construction management or engineering within an industrial setting.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products and engineering and inspection‑related software. Ability to interact professionally both internally and externally at all levels of an organization. Strong writing, editing, and research skills.

Ability to work independently and as a valuable team member. Ability to travel to KJ offices and client locations required. Salary Salary range for this position is anticipated to be $80,000 to $140,000, and may vary based upon education, experience, qualifications, licensure/certifications, and geographic location.
