Position Summary

The Neurodiversity and Personalized Health Lab at Bloorview Research Institute, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is seeking a research engineer with expertise in machine learning/data science. He/she/they will develop innovative algorithms that improve the understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions and contribute to development of technology-based supports for children. In that context, he/she/they will collaborate with engineers, clinicians, and third-party researchers and laboratories.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform data analyses for clinical research studies. Analyses may include cleaning/aggregating large datasets, visualizing data, statistical analysis, signal processing, machine learning, etc.
  • Support setup of devices and software used for data collection
  • Support the preparation of manuscripts, specifically methods and results sections
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary team, provide updates during weekly meetings
  • Manage multiple on-going projects
  • Maintaining the privacy and security of data being analyzed by following hospital best practices and procedures

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field
  • Familiarity with statistics, data visualization, and machine learning methods
  • Proficiency with Python and/or R, specifically related to statistics and machine learning
  • Experience analysing clinical research data, such as physiological signals, clinical assessments, survey data, or neuroimaging data (transferable skills also considered)
  • Experience communicating research results, including written and oral
