Offer Description

We offer 2 positions as a research assistant for a PhD student 1, 2 in Work Group 4 (WG4) of the CENTERA2 in research unit of the Center for Advanced Materials and Technologies (CEZAMAT) at the WUT. WG4 (led by PhD Agnieszka Siemion) conducts research into terahertz optical systems and their components and is responsible for developing and constructing new devices and systems, with the goal of rapid technology transfer and commercialization. CENTERA2 is a project with a proposed research and development program focused on new achievements in terahertz science and technology.

The key responsibilities include:

  • Simulation, design, and fabrication of THz optical systems,
  • Collaboration with CENTERA2 team members, as well as with scientists from the Warsaw University of Technology and national and international partner institutions;
  • Dissemination of research results – scientific publications and conference presentations;
  • Applications for new research grants.

Skills/Qualifications

  • Excellent command of English, enabling the preparation of scientific publications;
  • A research profile consistent with a specialization in physics, electronics, or photonics;
  • Solid knowledge of solid-state physics, optoelectronics, electronics, or photonics, including the THz radiation range;
  • Proven research experience in conducting computer simulations and designing optical systems, THz emitters, or detectors.
  • Proficiency in the PYTHON or other programming environment.

Eligibility criteria

  • 1. Submission of all required documents:
  • 1) a letter of application to the Vice-Rector for General Affairs;
  • 2) a CV (up to 3 pages) including the clause:
  • "I consent to the processing of my personal data necessary for the recruitment process, in accordance with the Act of 29 August 1997 on Personal Data Protection.";
  • 3) candidate’s personal information form;
  • 4) copy of the diploma of higher education confirming the obtained master’s degree or an equivalent degree;
  • 5) a list of research, teaching and organizational output and achievements;
  • 6) other documents certifying additional qualifications;
  • a) the full capacity to perform acts in law,
  • b) enjoying full civil rights,
  • c) not being convicted by a valid sentence for an intentional crime or an intentional tax offence,
  • d) no disciplinary penalty as defined in Article 276 section 1 items 7 and 8 of the Law on Higher Education and Science of 20 July 2018 being imposed on them.

Selection process

Candidates who have submitted complete application will be screened by a recruitment committee and selected candidates will be invited for a web-based or telephone-based interview in front of the committee in October/November 2026 (in-person interviews are also possible at the candidate’s expense). WUT reserves the rights to close the competition without selecting a candidate. In such a case, a new job offer will be published.

Additional comments

The person will be employed for Project No. FENG.02.01-IP.05-T004/23 titled “Center for Terahertz Research and Applications CENTERA2”. The project is co-financed by the European Union through the European Funds for Smart Economy 2021-2027 (FENG), Competition of the Foundation for Polish Science, Priority 2 Innovation-friendly environment, Measure 2.1 International Research Agendas.
