Research And Development Engineer (Des Plaines)

Akkodis is seeking a for a Research & Development Engineer at Location: Des Plaines IL for a contract Duration: 06+Months with potential to convert full time. Pay Range: $42/h- $45/h; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors Overview We are seeking a skilled professional with expertise in vacuum systems and gas management to join our Research & Development team. This role involves applying advanced research theories, principles, and models to design and conduct experiments, analyze results, and communicate findings to both internal stakeholders and external partners.

Key Responsibilities Lead and execute research and development projects within the organization. Apply scientific principles and methodologies to experimental design and data analysis. Summarize research outcomes and present findings to management, collaborators, and external bodies.

Utilize expertise in vacuum systems and gas management to support innovation and problem-solving. Plan and accomplish goals using sound judgment, creativity, and technical knowledge. Supervise and guide team members, providing direction and leadership on complex tasks.

Contribute to strategic initiatives with a high degree of autonomy and innovation. Qualifications Graduate degree (Master’s or Ph.D. preferred) in a relevant field. 3–5 years of experience in research, development, or related technical areas. Strong familiarity with industry concepts, practices, and procedures.

Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver results independently. Excellent communication skills for reporting and presenting research findings. Demonstrated leadership capabilities and ability to mentor junior staff.
