Research Analyst

Department Specific Functions: Maintain database using data software Verifies accuracy and internal consistency of reports, including required state and federal reports. Leads team effort on complex projects, providing guidance and structure to staff and collaborators. Ensures proper technical documentation and preparation of tabular, written reports and oral presentations.

Completes surveys and reports, discipline-specific accreditation, admission, and grant proposals. Gathers patient data in order to register patients in biobanking software and enters associated clinical data. Assists in writing SOP’s for data management Confirms clinical data meets the requirements of the BSSR SOP’s.

Ensures appropriate annotation of biospecimens. Conduct QA/QC to ensure accurate data entry, reviews data inconsistencies and follows up with data correction/data clarification requests. Manages the collection and storage of all pertinent clinical data associated with a biospecimen.

Updates the database each time the biospecimen is moved within or out of the biospecimen resource. Manages database for inventory functions, tracking all phases of biospecimen acquisition, processing, handling, QA/QC and distribution from the collection site (research participant) to utilization (researcher). Oversees the BSSR’s data storage and retrieval system.

Reviews biospecimen database and retrieves relevant data for project feasibility purposes. Analyzes data and interprets research findings. Provides feedback and assistance on honing the conclusions and recommendations into actionable findings.

Ensure the safety of stored data by implementing security programs. Devise disaster recovery plans, upgrade databases as needed, install and test new software and run back-up programs to prevent the loss of any data. Responsible for creating new databases or upgrading existing databases.

Perform maintenance on databases, check data accessibility and troubleshoot problems with new systems as needed. Manage data backup operations. Performs other related duties as required by the BSSR. #J-18808-Ljbffr
