Job Description

Greenstaff Medical is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our team on a casual basis. This is an excellent opportunity for nursing professionals who value flexibility whilst delivering high-quality patient care. Based in Brisbane, QLD 4000, this role offers the chance to work across various healthcare settings, providing essential nursing support to patients in general medical and surgical environments.

As a casual Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in supporting our healthcare delivery objectives, bringing your clinical expertise and compassionate approach to patient care whenever you are scheduled.

Key responsibilities

Delivering direct patient care to individuals in general medical and surgical wards, including assessment, monitoring and treatment

Administering medications, injections and other prescribed treatments in accordance with clinical protocols and legislative requirements

Performing routine observations and vital sign monitoring, documenting and reporting changes in patient condition to relevant medical staff

Assisting with activities of daily living and personal hygiene support for patients with varying levels of dependency

Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous patient records, ensuring all clinical documentation is complete and compliant with healthcare standards

Collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure coordinated and effective patient care

Responding promptly to patient needs and concerns, providing emotional support and health information

Adhering to infection control protocols and maintaining a safe, clean and hygienic patient environment

Supporting the preparation and recovery of patients undergoing surgical or diagnostic procedures

Communicating effectively with patients, families and healthcare colleagues to ensure continuity of care

What we're looking for

Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse, with unrestricted practice rights

Strong clinical knowledge and practical experience in general medical and/or surgical nursing settings

Demonstrated competence in patient assessment, observation and monitoring skills

Proficiency in medication administration and adherence to therapeutic guidelines

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams

A commitment to maintaining accurate and timely patient records in accordance with legislative and professional standards

Ability to work independently and use professional judgement, whilst seeking guidance and support when required

Knowledge of infection prevention and control practices, including current best practice standards

Current or willingness to obtain a Police Clearance Certificate and Working with Children Check as required by the employer

First aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain this if not currently held)

Flexibility and reliability for casual shift patterns, including potential for evening, night and weekend work

Experience in Australian healthcare settings is preferred but not essential for suitably qualified international nurses
