Job Description

St John of God Geelong Hospital is a leading private hospital providing a broad range of medical, surgical and specialist services to the Geelong and wider Barwon community.

Position

We are seeking a passionate and motivated Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Emergency Department on a permanent part-time basis, working 22.5 hours per week.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct, comprehensive nursing care to patients presenting to the Emergency Department, ensuring care is delivered in accordance with established hospital policies, procedures and Care Paths.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of and functions in accordance with legislation and common law affecting nursing practice, acknowledging accountability and responsibility for own actions.
  • Undertakes comprehensive patient assessments, recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in clinical condition and escalating care where required.
  • Prioritises and coordinates patient care according to clinical urgency, ensuring timely assessment, treatment and ongoing monitoring.
  • Maintains and promotes positive interpersonal relationships and effective teamwork between nursing staff, patients, families, medical staff and the wider multidisciplinary team.
  • Assists and collaborates with the multidisciplinary team in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for allocated patients.
  • Communicates effectively with all members of the care team and provides clear and timely clinical handover and documentation.
  • Supports safe and effective discharge planning, ensuring patients and families receive appropriate education, information and follow-up arrangements.
  • Ensures Infection Management policies and procedures are understood, adhered to and implemented in clinical practice.

About You

You will hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse, along with recent clinical experience in an acute care, emergency or relevant healthcare environment. Previous Emergency Department experience will be highly regarded; however, we are also interested in nurses with strong acute clinical skills who are looking to develop their career in emergency nursing.

To succeed in this role, you will have well-developed clinical assessment, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment. You will demonstrate sound clinical judgement, strong prioritisation and problem-solving skills, together with a commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and a positive patient experience. Benefits

  • Salary: $85,480 - $107,881 (pro date for part time), plus 12% superannuation
  • Permanent part-time role 22.5 hrs per week.
