Job Description
R&D Software Development Associate Hiring Department: Applied Research Laboratories Location: PICKLE RESEARCH CAMPUS Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 Earliest Start Date: Immediately Position Duration: Expected to Continue Responsibilities Design, implement, test and verify real-time software for sonar applications. Build test, and install software for tactical sonar systems in a real acoustic environment at the Lake Travis Test Station and offsite contractor locations. Integrate software components with tactical sonar systems.
Document and present work performed. Other related functions as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.
Demonstrated ability using object‑oriented programming languages. Strong analytical and problem‑solving background. Thorough understanding of object‑oriented programming concepts, data structures, and algorithm performance analysis.
Experience with C++ and Python. Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems and basic administration. Evidence of skills in working with new technologies, organization, planning, time management, attention to detail, problem solving, judgment, independent work with confidential information, professional demeanor, teamwork without supervision, communication, working under pressure, and punctual attendance.
US Citizen (subject to a government security investigation and eligibility for classified information access). Preferred Qualifications At least two years’ experience with C/C++ programming and Python, and familiarity with Linux shells such as bash. Experience developing scientific software applications and graphing sensor data with Matplotlib or MATLAB.
Experience with CMake and git revision control in the Unix/Linux environment. Familiarity with computer network design and configurations using TCP/IP over Ethernet. Experience installing Linux operating systems and basic network configuration.
GUI design experience. Experience with containerized applications and deployment/package managers such as Kubernetes. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 with at least a 3.2 in relevant coursework.
Working Conditions May work around standard office conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity.
Some weekend, evening and holiday work. Possible intrastate/interstate travel.
