Role Overview We are looking for a highly skilled and research-oriented Quantum Computing Engineer to design, develop, and evaluate quantum and quantum-inspired solutions for complex financial and computational problems. This role requires a strong balance of: Quantum computing expertise Applied mathematics and optimization Financial systems understanding Production-grade software engineering Research and experimentation mindset The ideal candidate should be comfortable working in high-ambiguity environments, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and translating theoretical quantum concepts into practical business applications. You will work closely with quantitative analysts, AI engineers, researchers, and financial domain experts to build next-generation solutions in areas such as: Portfolio optimization Risk analytics Derivatives pricing Trading and operations optimization Fraud and anomaly detection Scenario simulation and predictive modeling Key Responsibilities Quantum Algorithm Development Design, implement, test, and benchmark advanced quantum and hybrid quantum-classical algorithms, including: Variational Quantum Eigensolver (VQE) Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA) Quantum Annealing and Ising formulations Quantum Monte Carlo methods Amplitude Estimation techniques Quantum optimization and combinatorial problem-solving approaches Evaluate algorithmic performance and compare quantum approaches against classical baselines.
Financial Use Case Development Apply quantum computing techniques to solve practical financial challenges, including: Portfolio optimization and asset allocation Risk analysis (VaR, CVaR) Derivatives pricing and simulation Optimization in trading systems and settlement workflows Fraud detection and anomaly analysis Optimization under uncertainty and stochastic systems Translate business requirements into mathematical models and quantum-ready formulations. Engineering & Experimentation Develop scalable and production-oriented quantum experiments and simulation environments using Python and modern engineering practices. Responsibilities include: Building hybrid quantum-classical workflows Integrating with HPC, cloud, and AI/ML systems Running experiments on quantum hardware and simulators Working with IBM Quantum, IonQ, Rigetti, D-Wave, AWS Braket, or equivalent platforms Noise analysis, error mitigation, and performance tuning Creating reusable frameworks, APIs, and research prototypes Research & Innovation Stay updated with advancements in: NISQ-era quantum computing Error mitigation and fault tolerance Quantum machine learning Quantum optimization Quantum software compilation and orchestration Contribute to: Internal R&D initiatives Technical whitepapers and documentation Research prototypes and proof-of-concepts Collaboration with academia, vendors, and cloud providers Required Qualifications Education MSc or PhD in: Quantum Computing Physics Computer Science Mathematics Engineering Computational Sciences Or related fields Exceptional industry experience may substitute for advanced academic qualifications.
Technical Skills Strong understanding of: Quantum mechanics Quantum information theory Linear algebra Probability and statistics Optimization techniques Numerical methods Classical algorithms and computational complexity Hands-on experience with one or more quantum SDKs/frameworks: Qiskit PennyLane Cirq AWS Braket Ocean SDK TensorFlow Quantum Q# (preferred but optional) Strong programming skills in: Python Scientific computing libraries Data structures and algorithms Experience with: Git/version control API integrations Linux environments Research-grade experimentation workflows Required Quantum Experience Practical experience in: Variational algorithms Hybrid quantum-classical workflows Quantum hardware limitations and constraints Noise and decoherence handling Qubit connectivity and compilation challenges Quantum circuit optimization Ability to critically evaluate when quantum computing is beneficial versus when classical solutions are more practical.
